Weatherization program helps you lower heating bills
"For those still in sticker shock over recent energy bills, there is a government program that could help cut down on the bills, along with energy waste. "

"The Municipality of Anchorage's Weatherization Assistance Program, funded by Alaska Housing Finance Corporation and the U.S. Department of Energy, aims to make homes more energy efficient. And if you qualify, it's all free."

"The program requires a two- to four-hour home inspection, which allows homeowners to find out how they can become more energy efficient."

"Boehm and his team determine where the drafts and heat loss occurs using state-of-the-art technology."

""This is depressurizing the house and it shows us how much air and where that air is coming into the house," said John Sauerbrey, an auditor for the Weatherization program."

"There's also a thorough inspection of heating systems, water heaters, furnaces and gas ranges. Besides checking for energy efficiency, the auditor also checks for safety and carbon monoxide levels throughout the house."

""Two hundred parts [carbon monoxide] are deadly. If there were 200 parts, I would tell everyone to get out of the house;
